This was everybody's favorite topic at work today. (I love saying that!)
The interest in the outcome of the presidential election is HUGE here…in fact both SVT1 and Channel 4 are planning to run wall-to-wall coverage of the counting ALL NIGHT. I had a really gruelling but rewarding day that included making the rounds of "new employee" introductions with my boss, hosting the radio show at Lund University, and then leading English Conversation for the International Office. (I left the apartment at 6:30 this morning and didn't get home until nearly 7:30 tonight.) But it will be very tempting to stay up and watch the returns anyway.
Work was terrific today…in fact I didn't want to leave at 3 p.m. (when I had to bolt in order to make the radio show by 4:00). I have now been assigned my permanent work space and to my amazement it's a BIG corner office with 3 windows!!! My boss also ordered my business cards and even asked for my input on what my title should be. LOL! I feel so important and appreciated…and I haven't done anything to deserve it yet!
The most surprising moment of the day was when my colleague Linn walked into the office wearing a sweatshirt with the word PSYCHO printed across the front of it. Now I've always known that what passes for "business attire" in Sweden is MUCH more casual than the U.S., but this was ridiculous!
