Today is Sweden’s National Day. Kind of like their version of the 4th of July minus the fireworks (they save those for New Year’s Eve).
So how did I celebrate my first National Day as a Swedish citizen? By doing my US taxes. I kid you not. The IRS gives Americans abroad until June 15 to file…so I’m not late, just last-minute.
I also think it’s pretty bizarre that my first National Day as a Swedish citizen is falling on the numerical date 6/6/06. Fortunately I’m not superstitious…or a satanist.
