Well, it seems that John & Jane Q. Public have FINALLY tuned in to what us "crazed, angry liberals" have known for the last six years…that the U.S. government is being run by people who are either A) incompetent, B) morally and ethically bankrupt, C) criminals, or D) All of the Above.
But I think it’s pretty shameful that it took inappropriate communication between a closeted gay Republican representative and some teenaged congressional pages to get their attention.
I am not in any way condoning former-Congressman Mark Foley’s behavior, but what he did pales in comparison to dragging the country into the war in Iraq on false pretenses, repeatedly ignoring the U.S. Constitution, violating the Geneva Conventions, manipulating the outcome of elections, failing the city of New Orleans and its citizens during Hurricane Katrina…the list just goes on and on and on.
And now the political party that has for years claimed to have a corner on the "traditional family values" market appears to have accidently exposed it’s true priorities in the case of the lecherous Mr. Foley, choosing to look the other way rather than risk losing his Florida House seat. I’m not even sure Karl Rove can pull a rabbit out of this hat.
The latest polls now indicate that not only will Democrats gain control of the House of Representatives in the mid-term elections, but they could end up in the majority by as many as 15 seats.
I’m almost afraid to hope.
