Happy 4th of July to all of my American readers. I’ve been celebrating it Swedish-style…otherwise known as “Wednesday.”
So I spent the day at the office, where my various international colleagues were surprisingly enthusiastic about helping me mark America’s “National Day” as they call it…especially when they found out it involved three different flavours of ice cream.
Home-made ice cream is along-standing 4th of July tradition in my family, but I had neither the time nor the equipment to make it in the middle of a work week. So I cheated and bought it at the grocery store, and based on the reaction from my co-workers, nobody seemed to mind.
But rather than singing Happy Birthday to me in Swedish (it actually *is* my birthday, too), they asked me to sing “The Star-Spangled Banner” for them. And idiot that I am…I did.
Must have been drunk on ice cream.
