How incredibly cool is this? Street artist/photographer JR has covered the rooftops of one of Kenya’s largest slums with the faces and eyes of women who live in the area (Kibera in Nairobi). The material used to create the images is water resistant and will therefore protect the ramshackle buildings underneath during the rainy season.
Of course the artwork on the rooves cannot be seen (or at least fully appreciated) by the people of Kibera, which is why the train was incorporated. It passes through the district twice a day, and the cars have been similarly covered with eyes so that three faces on the embankment leading up to the tracks are completed for just a few seconds.
