Evidently it's been in place for a couple of years now, but this article on snow globes being included on the US Transportation Safety Administration's list of items that cannot be carried on to airplanes made me laugh outloud.
Of course it sort of makes sense. Snow globes are filled with liquid, after all…though just how much is hard to determine. Surely the smaller ones that forgetful Dads and lazy boyfriends grab at airport souvenir shops don't exceed the 3-fluid-ounce limit?
Needless to say, I'm feeling quite smug about my long-established preference for refrigerator magnets (decorative AND useful!) because it means I won't have to rethink my entire US Christmas trip gift list.
