Embracing two stereotypes with one Christmas gift

Dr. Darling has been mulling over Post Denmark’s Employee Christmas gift list, a task that was already something of a joke in our household. Last year she “mulled” a little too long and as a result, the fairly useful item she finally settled on was no longer available. Oops.

Like last Christmas, the holiday gift list included a half-dozen items to suit a variety of tastes and interests, ranging from a Kosta Boda vase to a sports duffle bag to a compact printer, but nothing that jumped out as something Dr. Darling really wanted or needed. So she did what any Swede worth their consumer-savvy-salt does, she Googled each item to see which one was the most expensive!

But when this strategy did not produce a clear winner, she was back to “square one” and I didn’t hear anything more about it until tonight, when she announced:

“Well, I think I’ve narrowed it down to either the printer or the electric screw-driver.”

“Even though we already have two printers?”

“I know, but we really don’t do a lot of screwing around the apartment either.”

“Hey, you don’t have to rub it in. I’ve made it perfectly clear that I’d be happy to do more screwing around the apartment.”

“Very funny. Shall I go with the screw-driver then?”

“Why not? It is a power tool, after all.”
