The Easter feathers aren’t faring very well

Sweden has this charming Easter tradition of decorating doorways and storefronts with bundles of thin wooden branches festooned in multi-colored feathers. I’m not sure how far in advance of the holiday it starts, but I noticed them for the first time (this season, anyway) last weekend.

Most years, the appearance of these feathers would be a sure sign of spring, but 2013 is not one of them. We’ve had snow for the last couple days and with Easter still almost two weeks away, the feathers are already looking a little worse for wear.
