Three-part harmony won’t ever sound this way again

A former radio colleague of mine posted this gem of a performance from 1999 in his Facebook timeline this week, and I haven’t been able to stop listening to it ever since. It’s a remarkable cover of the classic Neil Young song “After the Goldrush” performed live by Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt, three artists I’ve always admired despite my active dislike of country music.

It was probably my disdain for country music that caused me to completely miss this song and the album (Trio II) it came from, which was actually the 2nd collaboration by the three of them. Boy am I ever feeling stupid now. Especially since learning that Linda Ronstadt is physically incapable of singing any more due to her Parkinson’s Disease. What a loss. And yet I’m so thankful that I and the rest of the world can still listen to her on YouTube.

So´glad you enjoyed it! My brother-in-law has since informed me that he & mys sister played the hell out this album in their home, and yet I *still* have no memory of it. Did I just sleep through all of 1999?
